Resumo: By being one of the most played sports in the world, soccer is also one of the most studied. The evolution that this sport has registered is due mostly to the way that the training is structured and led towards competitive goals. The observation and game analysis that are currently developed by a member of the coach team - the scouter, have been representing an important role in this training planning and organization, since they contribute to better prepare the competition and enhance the performance of the team. This report is the culmination of an internship, regarding the second cycle in High Performance Sports Training in FADEUP, inside the Scouting department of Lusitano's Futebol Clube senior team, that lasted one season and had two major goals: verifying the implications that observation and game analysis of the opponent teams have in the preparation for the game of direct confrontation between those same teams, as well analyzing the pros and cons of performing both functions of player and scouter simultaneously. In the end of this experience, we concluded that game analysis is a process of an enormous complexity because it involve a sport of big technical/tactical unpredictability of events and, therefore, we can extract some conclusions based not only in a literary review, but also in the opinion of coaches and in a process of personal reflection: (1) observation and game analysis have impact in training planning and organization and are used to anticipate and to cancel the opponent's characteristics; (2) the symbioses of the functions as player and scouter, could present advantages at the level of the athlete's performance, but is impractical in professional teams, as the level of requirement of the sport requires from the athlete a complete focus in is job as a soccer player.
