Resumo: Estudar a história da chegada e estabelecimento em Lisboa de um grupo de freiras vindas dos Países Baixos para fugir à perseguição protestante movida contra as ordens católicas é o objetivo central deste artigo. Pertencente ao convento de Alkmar, da Ordem de Santa Clara, o grupo de freiras proveniente da Flandres refugiou-se em Lisboa, fundou convento e transpôs o seu modo de vida comunitário autónomo para Portugal.
