Resumo: The International Police Executive Symposium (IPES) meetings are organized for twin objectives. One objective is to discuss a theme of major concern in policing across the world. The other objective is to develop camaraderie and collaborations with other scholars and practitioners to achieve the aims of IPES and Police Practice and Research (PPR). The theme for this year’s conference revolves around terrorism and organized crime. These twin problems are interconnected as some scholars have begun to notice the intersection of these two crime groups. These crime groups have also gained prominence as being transnational in nature and share the same tactics of intimidation and the use of violence. Scholars have also observed that these crime groups adopt the same modus operandi in their criminal enterprises.
