Resumo: Considering the extremely important social role played by the different persons, players, companies and entities involved in the media sector, which, in one hand, shall respect the fundamental freedoms of informing (and being informed) and, on the other hand, shall protect the fundamental rights of personality, this study aims to analyze and understand the mechanisms of regulation of the new and incipient legislation of Timor-Leste, specifically regarding Timorese journalistic activity and its duties and liability to compensate (and other remedies) in cases of violations of such rights of personality. The legal assistance that i have been performimg for the several years to the “Rádio e Televisão de Timor-Leste, E.P. – RTTL, E.P.”, namely its Board of Directors has allowed me to have a broader and practical insight or vision of the subject sub judice, namely the civil resposnsability of the journalist and the respective legislation.
