Resumo: Angela Carter’s writing was committed to issues related with gender politics. The writer aimed to subvert the subliminal content of the fairy tale by presenting her own versions since traditionally it has been used as a mechanism to transmit cultural roles which reinstate a phallocratic social order. However, a close reading of «The Werewolf» allows one to question whether she has not reused inefficaciously and therefore reinforced a common misogynistic myth, that of female sacrifice.

Ao visitar novamente um dos mecanismos emitentes de papéis culturais tradicionalmente defensores de uma ordem falocrática, o conto de fadas, a escritora pretendeu subverter o conteúdo do mesmo.
