Le mythe de Layla et Majnûn, aussi bien que le "Traité de l'Amour" d'Ibn Arabi, démontrent qu’il y a un rapport étroit avec l'amour platonique, en existant des ressemblances et des différences entre l'amour soufi et l'amour courtois, acquérant celui-ci un aspect divin, où la relation avec la femme (Aimée) est semblable à la relation du soufi avec Dieu. The troubadours' love songs, especially from Galaico-Portuguese literature, are those that best reflect the influence of Hispano-Arab literature, where the lady (the beloved) draws near to God.
