Resumo: This work presents how a 5th year student from a public school in Portugal (ages 10-11) solved statistical holiday homework with the aim of using a daily life context familiar to that student. It is a qualitative approach in order to analyze the activity carried out from the point of view of a pedagogical act and its semiotic approach aspects also. The contribution of this work lies in the fact that the use of an investigation basic education activity – carried out in a context that the student recognizes – can also enable learning of the statistical contents.

La metodología es cualitativa pues queríamos efectuar un análisis de la actividad realizada desde el punto de vista del acto pedagógico y registrar aspectos de su enfoque semiótico.La contribución de este trabajo se verifica en el hecho de que una actividad de educación básica, siendo realizada en un contexto de reconocimiento del alumno, también puede facilitar ese aprendizaje en estos contenidos.Este trabalho apresenta como uma aluna do 5º ano de escolaridade de uma escola pública em Portugal resolveu o trabalho de férias de estatística usando o seu quotidiano como ponto de partida para a abordagem dos conteúdos. A metodologia é qualitativa, pois queríamos efetuar uma análise da atividade realizada do ponto de vista de ato pedagógico e registar aspetos do seu enfoque semiótico.
