The present investigation focuses on the Art Naïf as an artistic phenomenon that exists beside all of the cultural system as well as a look at its particularities and its personal and popular dimension that voice a vital necessity of expression however without mastering the technical means to do so. The characterization, deepening and clarification of issues associated with the character of ingenuity, innocence, purity and instinct in this form of art are also addressed aiming for its comprehension and demystification. It is centered as well on the motivational issue perceived as the main driver and key element to all of the intrinsic process that lets live, feeds and founds this way of expression. From the initial and main focus a theoretical logical and natural line has been formed that comprehends and approaches consequential subjects such as the motivation and intrinsic intention characteristics of the naïf artists aiming for the in-depth and complete comprehension of the surrounding, intimate and personal relation that lets the creation process become an experience of enrichment, evolution, expansion and self-achievement coming from the growing challenge, constant exploration and continuous knowledge of the self. A qualitative empirical investigation has been made, based on a case study, directed to seven naïf artists that are part of the International Naïf Painting Saloon (Salão Internacional de Pintura Naïf) in Casino do Estoril’s galleria, in order to verify, validate and attribute a significate value to the presented theoretical line. The obtained results were coherent and reflect in actuality the beneficial, pleasurable and enriching character provided by an intrinsically motivated surrounding in this artistic activity, both to a particular and personal level but also as a general level associated with the meaning of life
