O estudo considera o efeito da crise na detenção de ativos financeiros e reais (ações, obrigações, contas poupança e veículos), assim como a frequência universitária e a mudança de planos educacionais. A análise empírica encontra-se dividida em duas partes distintas: análise ano a ano, utilizando modelos Probit (5 ondas, 2005-2013); e uma estimação com recurso a painel balanceado com efeitos variáveis (N=2778) para o período compreendido entre 2005 e 2011, com o objetivo de analisar as decisões dos mesmos jovens aos longo do tempo. Os resultados indicam que a Grande Recessão afetou positivamente a detenção de ações e veículos. Contrariamente, no que que concerne à frequência universitária, o impacto da referida variável foi positivo, enquanto que a detenção de contas poupança não foi afetada pela Grande Recessão. A mudança de planos educacionas devido à Grande Recessão é fortemente e negativamente influenciada pela detenção total de de ativos.The present research studies the impact the Great Recession, which started at the end of 2007, on the education and financial choices of the young adults interviewed for Transition into Adulthood PSID Supplement TA - Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID). The study considers the effect of crisis on the ownership of both financial and real assets (stocks, savings, bonds and vehicles), as well as on college enrollment and change in educational plans. The empirical analysis is split in two: analysis year by year, using probit models (5 waves; 2005-2013); and a random effects (RE) balanced panel estimation (N=2778) for the period between 2005 and 2011 in order to analyze the behavior of the same young adults across the years. Results indicate that the Great Recession impacted negatively the ownership of stocks and vehicles. By contrast, it had a positive impact on college enrollment while, savings? accounts were not affected.
