Resumo: | The implementation of Industry 4.0 in the automotive sector has been a need felt by all organisations in the sector. In this sense, a case study is carried out with a qualitative approach, with the aim of assessing the extent to which Industry 4.0 technologies constitute a competitive advantage in the automotive sector. For data collection six interviews were conducted with employees of the company Stellantis Mangualde, responsible for implementing the INDTECH 4.0 project. The collected data were subjected to a content analysis and explained with the literature review. Data collection allowed the identification of the implemented Industry 4.0 technologies, advanced Robotics - robots in the hardware, painting and assembly sections, Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT). The results allowed us to conclude that the most obvious advantages were: production with less effort; reduction of costs and production time; increase in production volume; improvement in industrial performance; elimination of operations in the production process that are harmful to the operators' health; improvement in working conditions and an increase in employee motivation, factors that constitute competitive advantages and contribute to the company's competitiveness. The adoption of technology for managing Big Data resulted in a profound contribution to controlling operations and supporting decision-making. The study provides useful information to managers in the sector and contributes to the advancement of knowledge on the subject. |

The study provides useful information to managers in the sector and contributes to the advancement of knowledge on the subject.
