Resumo: In 1944, British writer George Orwell published Animal Farm. Through some powerful signs, such as the animal characters, among which the pigs throughout the story transform themselves into humans, and the human artefacts, this article analyses the effect of these signs on the narrative and on the moral-philosophical criticism of this ‘nouvella’ as well as the signs exposed in the album released thirty years after by the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd: Animals.
