Resumo: Public libraries are social institutions whose mission is to serve everyone in the community where they are located. Thinking about the Brazilian reality (composed of a majority of brown and black people), the importance of literary reading for the formation of readers and the representativeness of the public libraries' collections, this research went into the collections of Brazilian state public libraries in order to verify the presence of black authors of Afro-Brazilian literature.
