Resumo: The following dissertation has a starting point on a personal experience, a volunteering experience in Puerto Rico, in 2018, with the aim to help the victims of Hurricane Maria. Presented as De Abrigo a Casa, it has a theoretical-practical structure since it seeks to investigate and identify a set of weaknesses in post-disaster architecture and in its often ephemeral condition, to study concepts such as flexibility and adaptability in the design process and, finally, develop an adaptable and incremental housing proposal. The study involves understanding what post-disaster architecture means and what is the most appropriate process for creating shelter and respecting survivors, based on fundamental principles for understanding the emergency spectrum after a disaster, through specialized bibliography oriented in this direction. By considering climatic, social, and cultural constraints, investigating the possibility of survivor's participation in the housing process and community reconstruction, and by understanding how architecture can best respond to the individual needs, it is intended that this housing proposal will help alleviate the hardships that survivors experience in a context where they lost the lives as they knew before the disaster. The research is concluded by the development of a project, in which the object of study is an adaptable modular housing system, that answers a set of questions, namely of cultural and social adequacy and constructive resilience, so that the proposal evolves to permanence and allows the creation of an incremental habitat over time.
