Resumo: Joel Serrão, historian and essayist, born on the island of Madeira, contributed greatly to the renewal of Portuguese historiography. He dealt with new themes, looking for objectivity, and used different sources, sometimes rarely used. Influenced by French historiography, especially the École des Annales, he discussed new questions and hypotheses, rethought old problems and committed himself to understanding contemporary society and its destiny, with a firm foundation in history. António Sérgio and Vieira de Almeida were his lifelong guides. For the Geração de 70 he had a particular affection.In his honor and with gratitude for the generous affability that he always bestowed upon us, we have prepared his bibliography, certainly not complete, but in the assurance, however, of corresponding to a first attempt at a global presentation of his work, diversified in time and in the disciplinary areas of his choice, that is, Philosophy, History and Literature. Pela Geração de 70 nutria particular afeição.Em sua homenagem e com gratidão pela generosa afabilidade com que sempre nos tratou, elaborámos uma sua bibliografia, não completa, por certo, mas na certeza, porém, de corresponder a uma primeira tentativa de apresentação global da sua obra, diversificada no tempo e nas áreas disciplinares da sua eleição, ou seja, a Filosofia, a História e a Literatura.
