Resumo: This article deals with the life and work of Joffre Dumazedier. It seeks to show its double face as educator and sociologist, man of action and researcher, at the moment when the centenary of his birth is celebrated. It seeks to show the author at the center of the ideas that guided his production and how they translated into a double product, organically articulated in four themes: it begins with the educator and creator of the method of mental training, passes to the leisure sociologist and then it pass to the socio-cultural sociologist, to finish with the educator, with the theme of self-formation. In this emphasis on the legacy that made him a reference in all these fields, it is sought to emphasize the essence of the ideas exposed in his books. It shows the main challenges he undertook and the innovations he introduced both in the fields he studied and in the educational action he developed. Additionally, it seeks to collect all of his works published in French and Portuguese.

Buscar presentar su doble cara de educador y sociólogo, de investigador y hombre de la action, en el momento em que se celebra el centenario de su nacimiento. Pretende mostrar el autor en el centro de las ideas que guiaron su producción y cómo se tradujeron en un producto doble, orgánicamente articulado en cuatro temas: uno empieza por el educador y creador del método de entrenamiento mental, va al sociólogo de ócio; a continuación, pasa al sociólogo de la animación sociocultural, para terminar con el tema de la autoformación. Este énfasis en el legado que lo hizo referencia en todos estos campos, buscamos resaltar la esencia de las ideas en sus libros. Se muestran los principales retos que hizo, y las innovaciones introducidas por lo tanto en los campos que estudió como la acción educativa desarrollada. Además, se busca elevar el conjunto de sus obras publicadas en francés y portuguésEste artigo trata da vida e obra de Joffre Dumazedier. Procura desvelar sua dupla face de educador e sociólogo, de homem de ação e pesquisador, no momento em que se comemora o centenário de seu nascimento. Procura mostrar o autor no centro das ideias que orientaram sua produção e como se traduziram num duplo produto, organicamente articulado em quatro temas: começa-se pelo educador e criador do método de treinamento mental, passa-se ao sociólogo do lazer para, em seguida, passar ao sociólogo da animação sociocultural, para terminar com o educador, com o tema da autoformação. Nessa ênfase no legado que o tornou referência em todos esses campos, busca-se acentuar a essência das ideias expostas nos seus livros. Mostra os principais desafios por ele assumidos e as inovações por ele introduzidas tanto nos campos por ele estudados como na ação educativa que desenvolveu.
