The humanization of the other in the news coverage of Antonio Pampliega in contemporary conflicts in Afghanistan

Resumo: The stories are not unique, as there are several versions for the same facts. Thus, the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie tries to bring to the public, through her works, the various possible readings of reality. The same goes for journalism. One of the challenges of the 21st century is to overcome the barrier of over-quantification and remote coverage to humanize statistics. Contemporary conflicts in Afghanistan are an example of this. While the international coverage of vehicles in the western world is limited to surveys and data interpretations, Spanish journalist Antonio Pampliega left the comfort zone to go to the front. The result is the publication of a book-report in which we realize that the other (Oriental, Muslim and Afghan) is as human as any Western reader.

Uno de los desafíos del siglo XXI es superar la barrera de la sobre cuantificación y la cobertura realizadas a distancia para humanizar las estadísticas. Los conflictos contemporáneos en Afganistán son un ejemplo de esto. Si bien la cobertura internacional de vehículos en el mundo occidental se limita a encuestas e interpretaciones de datos, el periodista español Antonio Pampliega abandonó la zona de confort para ir al frente. El resultado es la publicación de un informe de libro en el que nos damos cuenta de que el otro (oriental, musulmán y afgano) es tan humano como cualquier lector occidental.As histórias não são únicas, pois há diversas versões para os mesmos fatos. Os conflitos contemporâneos no Afeganistão são um exemplo disso. Enquanto a cobertura internacional de veículos do mundo ocidental se resume a levantamentos e interpretações de dados, o jornalista espanhol Antonio Pampliega saiu da zona de conforto para ir ao front.
