Resumo: Thirty years have elapsed since the marriage of Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer (1961-1997), a celebrity who still inspires countless blogs and websites. Bearing in mind William’s recent marriage to Kate Middleton, remembering and reassessing Diana seems appropriate particularly as the engagement ring offered by the prince once belonged to “England’s Rose”, as the mass media, and ‘the socialite press’ in particular, have widely stressed. Focusing on the deerstalking sequence in the film The Queen (2006), directed by Stephen Frears, this article comments upon the fictionalization of the reactions and behaviour of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to the death of “the People’s Princess”.

Ao abrigo do tema proposto e na sequência do recente enlace de William com Kate Middleton, fará sentido revisitar a figura de Diana, sobretudo quando o anel de noivado oferecido pelo príncipe pertenceu outrora à «Rosa de Inglaterra», conforme amplamente publicitado pelos meios de comunicação social.
