Resumo: In architecture, for a long time, the professionals have resorted to the various manual means such as mockups, perspectives and freehand drawings in projects for representation and communication. These were fundamental in the process of creating and conception and were used as tools for analysis, interpretation of spaces, places and project communication to the client. However, there were often difficulties in understanding by customers. So, in order to minimize them, we analyse the relationship between the representations used in the projects and the media used by architecture professionals. So, taking into account the professional- client relationship (ordinary person), we conducted a survey, through interviews to obtain information, whose purpose is to understand and verify the various communication in contrast to the customer´s level of understanding. Respondents will review architectural design process using a variety of modes of representation and communication. Then, we can verify the difficulties encountered in understanding the architectural project by customers, in contrast to the various aspects used in communication models and design features, For that, several methods have been presented with the diverse features, from textures, three-dimensional representations, photorealistic images and virtual reality. This research is to understand if all this technological evolution in architecture has improved or not the design process in contrast to the manual means.
