Resumo: Considering the importance of understanding the three-way influence between science, technology and society (STS) for a more active and democratic citizen participation, the goal here is to investigate the results obtained from a question, in the Questionnaire of Opinions on Science, Technology and Society (QOSTS) created within the Ibero-American Project for the Evaluation of Attitudes Related to Science, Technology and Society (PIEARCTS), which addresses the STS’s multiple interactions. The question was presented to students from compulsory education and from university (Environmental Management course), as well as to teachers from the “Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow da Fonseca” (CEFET). Results fell short of expectations, especially in the teachers group, reinforcing the need of curricular changes and improvements in initial and continuous teacher training, in order to achieve education practices that better fit the Nature of Science (NoS) and scientific literacy.

Results fell short of expectations, especially in the teachers group, reinforcing the need of curricular changes and improvements in initial and continuous teacher training, in order to achieve education practices that better fit the Nature of Science (NoS) and scientific literacy. Considerando la importancia del entendimiento de la influencia tríadica entre ciencia, tecnología y sociedad (CTS) para una participación ciudadana más activa y democrática, el propósito del presente trabajo es investigar los resultados encontrados en una pregunta del Cuestionario de Opiniones sobre Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad (COCTS) del Proyecto Iberoamericano de Evaluación de actitudes Relacionadas con la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Sociedad (PIEARCTS) que aborda las múltiples interacciones CTS. La pregunta fue aplicada a estudiantes de educación secundaria y de enseñanza superior en el curso de Tecnología de Gestión Ambiental y a profesores del Centro Federal de Educación Tecnológica Celso Suckow (CEFET). Los resultados se muestran por debajo de lo deseable, especialmente en el grupo de profesores, reforzando la necesidad de alteraciones curriculares y mejoras en la formación inicial e continuada docente para que, así, sea visibilizada una práctica educadora más adecuada con los aspectos de la Naturaleza de la Ciencia (NdC) y de la alfabetización científica.Considerando a importância do entendimento da influência triádica entre ciência, tecnologia e sociedade (CTS) para uma participação cidadã mais ativa e democrática, busca-se aqui investigar os resultados encontrados em uma questão do Questionário de Opiniões sobre Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (QOCTS), do Projeto Ibero-americano de Avaliação de Atitudes Relacionadas com Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (PIEARCTS1), que trata das múltiplas interações CTS. A questão foi aplicada a estudantes da educação básica e do ensino superior em tecnólogo de gestão ambiental e a professores do Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow da Fonseca (CEFET).
