A documentação sobre a qual incidiremos foi doada pelo bisneto do titular, encontrando-se à guarda do Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra para a sua conservação e preservação permanente. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral a organização de uma parcela do Arquivo Pessoal de António Gomes da Rocha Madahil até à fase da elaboração de uma proposta de quadro de classificação. Destacamos quatro objetivos específicos essenciais: i) pesquisa e recolha de dados biográficos e bibliográficos do produtor; ii) identificação das tipologias documentais e recenseamento, isto é, contagem das unidades documentais que compõem o fundo; iii) elaboração de uma proposta de quadro de classificação de acordo com a realidade documental do arquivo; iv) reflexão e avaliação do processo. A metodologia adotada passou pela investigação teórica para sustentar o estudo, pela pesquisa bibliográfica e documental - do autor e do fundo respetivamente -, pela análise e prospeção documental e pela criação de classes e subclasses para organizar a documentação. O resultado principal deste estudo foi a elaboração de uma proposta de quadro de classificação, onde identificamos as secções e as séries que estruturam a organização do fundo. As principais conclusões que retiramos deste estudo espelham-se na proposta do quadro de classificação que reflete, essencialmente, a vida profissional do produtor em Coimbra, bem como, alguns aspetos da sua vida privada. Foi feita, então, uma tentativa de organização ao referido arquivo através da criação de classes e subclasses, de acordo com as tipologias documentais identificadas no momento da identificação, assim como, a contagem das unidades documentais existentes no Arquivo Pessoal de António Gomes da Rocha Madahil durante o recenseamento. No entanto, o tratamento deste arquivo não se encontra completo, recomenda-se a execução da etapa da descrição para, futuramente, ser possível a disponibilização e comunicação da informação, potenciando o acesso aos utilizadores.This project’s object of study is the António Gomes da Rocha Madahil’s Personal Archive, constituted by produced and collected documentation by the mentioned person during the exercise of his duties, essentially in the city of Coimbra, in administrative positions, as the first curator of General Library of the University of Coimbra (1927-1932), first curator of Archive and Museum of Art of Coimbra (1932-1953) and assistant curator of Museum Machado de Castro of Coimbra (1951-1953). The Archive we refer to was partially donated by the titleholder’s great-grandson, being kept by the Archive of the University of Coimbra for conservation and permanent preservation. The general goal of this work is the organization of this “portion” of the entirely collection of António Gomes da Rocha Madahil’s Personal Archive until the phase of the proposition of the arrangement of the documents. In order to achieve this goal, we highlight four specific and essential purposes: i) research and collection of the producer’s bibliographical data; ii) identification of the documental typologies and inventory, such as the count of documental unities that comprise the archive; iii) elaboration of a preliminary classification scheme for the arrangement of the documents, in accordance with the documental reality of the archive; iv) reflection on the archive’s entire organizational process. In order to meet all the expectations of this work, the chosen methodology was, firstly, the theoretical research to support the argument, the bibliographical and documental research (both on the author and on the archive, respectively), the analysis of the documental prospection and, finally, the constitution of classes and subclasses of a potential classification scheme in order to provide the intellectual organization of the set of documents. The main result of this research was the elaboration of a preliminary classification schema, where we were able to identify (in a material sense) the subgroups and series that possibly will structure the organization of this portion of the archive. The main conclusions from this study are reflected in the proposition of the classification scheme which reflects, essentially, the producer’s professional life in Coimbra, as well as some aspects of his private life. We then tried to organize the mentioned archive through the establishment of classes and subclasses, in accordance to the documental typologies indicated in the moment of identification, as well as the calculation of units found in the António Gomes da Rocha Madahil’s Personal Archive, during the census.
