Resumo: This paper presents the results of the technical examination of three altar screens painted by Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho (1729 – 1810) with the intent of characterizing their materials, techniques and formal aspects. The methods used included in situ analysis by energy dispersive X‑ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) and further study of microscopic samples using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X‑ray spectometry (SEM‑EDS) and Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy (FTIR‑ μs).

La metodología de investigación incluye el análisis in situ de los principales pigmentos de cada lienzo con espectrometría de fluorescencia de rayos X por energía dispersiva (EDXRF), y el estudio de micro muestras mediante microscopio óptico (MO), microscopía electrónica de barrido con espectrometría de energía dispersiva de rayos X (SEM‑EDS) y micro‑espectroscopía de infrarrojos por transformada de Fourier (μ‑FTIR).Apresentam‑se os resultados dos exames e análises feitos a três telas de altar pintadas por Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho (1729‑1810), com o objectivo de caracterizar os materiais, a técnica e os aspectos formais dessas obras.
