Resumo: The mechanisms and actions that build up the field of architecture are as vast and rich as they are ambiguous. The fog, which does not yield a horizon, fosters the doubt of a matter that could be a 'discipline' but like D. Sebastião insists on not appearing. This is aggravated while trying to decipher the role of the architect when it is difficult to define these 'scientific parameters' within the architectural exercise, in which power, interest and the market, act freely, submitting this practice and placing the architect between mason and god, between specialist and artist, in power or in illegality. The demonstrations of revolt were very sparse, and colonialism endures, reiterating itself more and more amorphous in contemporary times. The true meaning of dwelling and use is also denied; the resident is still a number, a mere statistic, thus leaving a fundamental freedom on hold. The segregation of classes in physical space is demonstrated in the city's daily life, regulated by an autonomous liberal market, in which we are all silent. In this context, we can raise the question of the architect's social role. From a historical-critical analysis, the actions of European urban plans have unfolded since the period of colonialism, focusing on the Spanish "grid", which spread quickly to Europe and other Western nominated countries, until the evolution towards neoliberalism, with a strong presence in the city of Porto. The spontaneous city is reflected, focusing on the European participatory experiences of the 1960s and 1970s; in Riobom neighbourhood, in parallel with the actions of the LaHB, a place of resistance and resilience is found, seeking to achieve an urbanism and architecture that are inclusive through dialogue and multidisciplinarity. Within the city, the architect must restore his dignity and realize which values to defend, while mediator between the entities and the population, encouraging their participation and the struggle for the right to a place. However, there remain ignorance and spread refutation about some ways of living, which are illegal and therefore clandestine, and marginalized. It is time for action, assembly, and community in the city; let's start at home.
