Pedagogical content knowledge construction on an STS theme (the union of cultures) by a university teacher, through the application of a Teaching and Learning Sequence

Resumo: The EANCYT project (translated as: Teaching and Learning Nature of Science and Technology) considers important to train teachers in order to improve their understanding of NoS&T. This paper presents a formative experience, conducted by a university teacher who collaborates with the EANCYT project, through the application of a Teaching-Learning Sequence (TLS): Two cultures or two prejudices?, in the interdisciplinary elective course: “Consolidation of scientific culture”, duringthe 4th semester of a teacher training program, from the University Pedagógica y Tecnológica, in Colombia. For this research process, the researcher conducted all three phases: applied the pre-test, conducted the TLS and applied the post-test. Later on, the researcher reflects upon her teaching action and uses two instruments to collect and present written information related to her Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK): Representation of Contents (ReCo) and Code of Professional Experience and Teaching (Rex-PyD). (Loughran, Berry, & Mulhall, 2012; Vazquez and Rodriguez, 2014). Referring to the taxonomy of Science, Technology, Society, Environment topics (Vazquez, 2014), the teaching of two cultures union allows the discussion of the influence of school science onto society, highlighting aspects of integration or separation between the two cultures.

Esta comunicación presenta la experiencia formativa que desarrolló una profesora universitaria colaboradora del proyecto EANCYT, al aplicar la Secuencia de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje-SEA- ¿Dos Culturas o Dos Prejuicios? en el curso de Electiva interdisciplinar “Consolidación de la cultura científica” del IV semestre del programa de formación de maestros de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. En el proceso de investigación, la profesora realiza la planeación de las tres fases: aplica el pretest, desarrolla la SEA y aplica el postest. Posteriormente, la profesora reflexiona sobre su acción docente y utiliza dos formas complementarias para recoger y presentar por escrito la información sobre el Conocimiento Didáctico del Contenido (CDC): Representación de Contenidos (ReCo) y Repertorio de Experiencia Profesional y Didáctica (Rex-PyD) (Loughran, Berry, & Mulhall, 2012; Vázquez & Rodriguez, 2014). En referencia a la taxonomía de los temas Ciencia, Tecnología, Sociedad, Ambiente (Vázquez, 2014), la enseñanza de la unión de dos culturas, permite debatir la influencia de la ciencia escolar sobre la sociedad y destacar los aspectos relacionados con la integración o separación de las dos culturas.Para o projeto EANCYT (Ensino e Aprendizagem da Natureza da Ciência e Tecnologia) importa uma formação de professores que tenha como sentido a melhoria da compreensão sobre da natureza da Ciência e Tecnologia. Este artigo apresenta a experiência formativa de uma professora universitária, colaboradora do projeto EANCYT, ao desenvolver a sequência de Ensino e Aprendizagem – SEA – Duas culturas ou dois preconceitos? numa disciplina eletiva interdisciplinar “Consolidação da cultura científica”, do IV semestre do programa de formação para professores da Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. No processo de investigação, a professora faz o planeamento em três fases: aplicação do pré-teste, desenvolvimento da SEA e aplicação do pós-teste.
