Resumo: | Traditionally, the increase in built densification in Brazilian cities occurs without due attention to the effects on microclimates, which enhances the creation of thermally uncomfortable open spaces. This study analyzed the effects of increased density built for pedestrian thermal comfort in Bagé-RS, a medium-sized city with a subtropical climate and hot summers. The methodology is qualitative with a case study and computer simulation of microclimates in a central urban clipping in the current period (scenario 1) and in a 2060 densification prognosis (scenario 2). The analyzes were made to the summer and winter extremes. Insolation and shading analysis has shown that scenario 2 reduces sidewalk insolation time throughout the day, which decreases the MRT, unfavorable to winter comfort and beneficial in summer. The results showed that the increase in constructive densification limited to buildings with three floors in the hottest period of the day (at 14:00) minimally alters the microclimate in the analyzed court, with no significant changes in the wind flows. |
