The Reynaldo dos Santos and Irene Quilhó dos Santos house (CRSIQS) holds a valuable documentary collection comprising libraries and personal archives of Reynaldo dos Santos (1880 – 1970) and his wife Irene Quilhó dos Santos (1916 – 2004), as well as her children of first marriage, João Carlos (1934 – 1994) e Luís Alberto Quilhó Jacobetty (1938 – 1979) and the Scientific archive of Phd. Maria de Sousa (1939 -). It is a cultural equipment belonging to the Municipality of Cascais, whose mission is to perpetuate the memory of these eminent figures of Portuguese contemporaneity, through the safeguarding and dissemination of a heritage of undeniable scientific and cultural value, since they contribute to the historical context in the areas of Medicine, Teaching, Technology, Literature and Art History in the twentieth century. However, the personal archive of Irene Quilhó dos Santos has never been object of study and analysis, not being properly inventoried and consequently disclosed, which represents a crucial gap in the future recognition of this personality and appreciation of its fundamental contribution, mainly to the prestige and promotion of the Portuguese Goldsmithery. Thus, the proposed project work aims to demonstrate the correlation between different scientific fields, such as museology and archival, starting from the understanding of the interdependence of concepts such as institution, memory, document, information and interdisciplinarity. In conclusion, the approximation of these scientific areas is evidenced here through the specific objective of conducting the documentary treatment of the Irene Quilhó Fund, in order to contribute to the safeguarding of its testimony and memory, describing in detail the process developed and its various steps related to the preservation, documentary description and dissemination of the estate, made available through the Digital Historical Archive of Cascais.
