Resumo: This article investigates the (auto)biographical procedures adopted by SarahPolley in her documentary Stories we tell. For this purpose I focus on the chorus of voices that compose the film, the lack of hierarchy between archive images and the recreated images. Thus, it would be possible to think about an autobiography theory sustained by the filmmaker as well as the performative function of storytelling.

Para llevar a cabo dicha empresa, nos centramos en el coro de voces que componen el filme y la falta de jerarquía entre imágenes de archivo e imágenes recreadas. De esa forma, sería posible pensar en una teoría de la autobiografía defendida por la autora, así como su función performativa de construcción de historias.Cet article enquête sur les procédés adoptés dans le documentaire (auto)biographique Stories we tell, de Sarah Polley. Pour ce faire, nous nous concentrons sur le choeur de voix qui compose le film et sur le manque de hiérarchie entre images d’archives et images recréées. De cette manière, cette démarche nous permet de penser la théorie de l’autobiographie défendue par l’auteure, ainsi que sa fonction performative dans la construction d’histoires.Este artigo investiga os procedimentos adotados no documentário (auto)biográfico Stories We Tell, de Sarah Polley. Para tal empreitada, nos debruçamos sobre o coro de vozes que compõe o filme e a falta de hierarquia entre imagens de arquivo e as imagens recriadas.
