Resumo: | This article examines the presence of Ulysses in Alberto Manguel’s literary and academic work, mainly in El regreso (2007) and El regreso de Ulises (2014), published in collaboration with cartoonist Max. In these works, Manguel addresses the universal problem of the exiled and of their impossible return to the place of departure through the figure of Ulysses. Throughout his academic wanderings, Ulysses is reshaped according to different settings and through other characters, such as the Sybil, in a sequence of literary retellings spanning from Homer to T. S. Eliot and including Virgil, Petronius and especially Dante. |

Eliot and including Virgil, Petronius and especially Dante.El trabajo analiza la presencia de Ulises en la obra ensayística y literaria de Alberto Manguel, en especial en El regreso (2007) y en El regreso de Ulises (2014), publicado en colaboración con el dibujante Max. En ellas da forma al problema universal del exiliado y de su regreso imposible al mismo lugar del que partió, en la figura de un Ulises que en su vagar literario ha ido modelándose en distintos escenarios y a través de otros personajes, como la Sibila, en una cadena de recreaciones literarias que van desde Homero a T.S. Eliot, pasando por Virgilio, Petronio y en especial Dante.Dans ce travail, nous analysons la présence d’Ulysse dans l’oeuvre essayiste et littéraire d’Alberto Manguel, plus précisément dans El regreso (2007) et dans El regreso de Ulises (2014), publiée en collaboration avec le dessinateur Max. Il y aborde le problème universel de l’exilé et de son retour impossible à l’endroit d’où il est parti, dans le rôle d’un Ulysse qui, dans ses itinéraires littéraires, se modela selon les différents scénarios età travers d’autres personnages, comme la Sibylle, dans un enchaînement de recréations littéraires qui vont d’Homère à T.S. Eliot, en passant par Virgile, Pétrone et, plus particulièrement, par Dante.O trabalho analisa a presença de Ulisses na obra ensaística e literária de Alberto Manguel, em especial em El regreso (2007) e em El regreso de Ulisses (2014), publicado em colaboração com o cartoonista Max. Aí dá forma ao problema universal do exilado e do seu regresso impossível ao mesmo lugar de que partiu, na figura de um Ulisses que nas suas andanças literárias se foi modelando em diferentes cenários e através de outros personagens, como a Sibila, numa cadeia de recriações literárias que vão desde Homero até T.S.
