Resumo: | A reflective teaching portfolio is a tool that helps to promote reflection on practice and self-assessment, but at the same time it can also be a data collection instrument for research. This article describes the uses of the reflective portfolio in the context of the teaching practice of two masters degrees in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. One of the sections of this reflective portfolio focuses on the trainee's self-assessment based on some descriptors from the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Language (EPOSTL) (Newby et al., 2007). Since the 2014/2015 academic year, trainees' written reflections related to the EPOSTL descriptors were collected, organised, and systematically analysed, with the objective of ascertaining the trainee's concerns and interests and drawing conclusions that can improve the training offered on these masters degrees. Following several research papers, in this study we point out some considerations from our experience with this research tool, which is a valuable source of information about the context of study and allows trainers to draw interesting conclusions and establish future lines of research. |
