Vantagens no uso de imagens obtidas com veículos autónomos não-tripulados no estudo de costas rochosas: o exemplo de S. Paio, Vila do Conde

The coastal area of S. Paio, Vila do Conde, is a stretch of great geomorphological interest, due to the conservation of several testimonies of sea level changes and climate evolution during the late Quaternary, in a scenario with a strong influence of geological structure. Therefore, we applied new technologies to study this rocky coast, namely the acquisition of aero photogrammetric data using UAV (model DV6-s). We performed two flights, which allowed us to obtain high-resolution aerial photographs (2cm pixel) with a high degree of overlap. Using the Agisoft PhotoScan software, we produced orthophotos and created DSM, where geomorphological and geological features such as discontinuities, lithological contacts and veins are shown with a great detail. These elements were then mapped with ArcGIS 10.2.2 software, resulting in large-scale thematic maps. The use of the UAV is very advantageous, namely because of its low cost, the short time required for data collection and the reduced time for geoprocessing.
