This thesis goal is to observe the constant and remaining characteristics in the architectural works of Fernando Higueras. The main body of this thesis in the curricula of Mestrado Integrado de Arquitectura is divided in four parts. In the first two the aim is to create knowledge bases that allow focusing and answering in a conscientious manner. Only in the third the theme is developed. In part one, Contexto Histórico-cultural de Espanha no século XX, a historical political social and cultural frame serve to characterize the times when this architect lived and worked, focusing on international and Spain's historical events that changed the course of History and the fashion of Higueras' interventions. In part two, Fernando Higueras - O homem e o arquitecto, we characterize this architect, a Renaissance Man, able to outstand in several Arts. Focusing on his education masters and influences on his fashion of creation and in his way of work, we aim to characterize his irreverent personality, always against the establishment, his dreaming mind that translates in the architectures he dreams and builds. In part three, O gesto criador de Fernando Higueras, main body of this thesis, thru presenting his architectural works and words we search to extract and characterize the constant elements in his vast and diverse work, aiming to understand the origins of this elements his constant fashions of actuation and the situations where he uses them. In the fourth and final part, the conclusion of this thesis, thru Horizontal Skyscraper for China in 2005, one of his last works, synthesis of his researches and investigations, we aim to explain the fashion how these characteristics, constant and evolving to perfection, are applied in the space conception that Higueras pursues.
