Resumo: The use of mobile phones is, nowadays, widespread. With very diverse functionalities, it can be a very useful tool for interaction and for leisure or social activities. However, it can be used excessively. Therefore, it is important to explore the role of predisposing factors such as impulsivity. With this study, we intend to evaluate the relationship between impulsivity and cell phone dependence, exploring in particular between sexes and age groups. For this purpose, data were collected from 847 participants, aged between 12 and 25 years, most of them women (n = 517, 61.0%), with a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Mobile Dependence Test (TDM), and the short version of the Brief Impulsive Behavior Scales (UPPS). The results allow us to perceive a statistically significant relationship between impulsivity and mobile phone dependence, gender and age differences in dependence and impulsivity, as well as a different effect of impulsivity as a predictor of mobile dependence as a function of these variables. The data have important implications in terms of research and intervention.
