Each city is a living being with its own personality and physiognomy. It has a name, it has a pulse and breath. Noisy and eccentric or more introverted, it interacts with its visitors and affects them strongly, emotionally and psychologically. This dissertation intends to approach the topic of the sensorial experience of cities and its application in architecture, more specifically in the creation of atmospheres. The main objective is to reflect on the personal experience accumulated during travelling and to apply those impressions in the creation of spaces that sustain the senses. Evoking some memories, it presents the sensorial panorama of four different cities - Sofia, Marrakesh, Porto and New York. From the existent to the imagination, from the description of the physical and material to the idea of an intangible atmosphere, has been done a "psychoanalysis" of each one of them, reflecting on the bodily perception and enhancing all those characteristics, beyond the visible, that give the city an individual and unique character. The atmospheres and emotions, described in the first part, are followed by their materialization in the space. As a tool, it was used an artistic representation - sensorial theater. Also called "labyrinth", it consists in a multisensory journey through a sequence of transformed spaces. Thus, the concept of "promenade architecturale" is transposed to an immersive journey, a performance, open to the public, which offers the spectators (visitors) an opportunity to activate the senses, experience the spaces, slow down the time and evoke memories. This work is, therefore, the crossing point between two dimensions: past experiences (how to perceive reality) and future design practice (how to transform reality), passing through the moment of reflection that establishes the connection between the two. It's a small rehearsal for my future role as an architect, a creator of life scenarios.
