In-depth critical account and detailed poetic synthesis of the reading of the correspondence between João Guimarães Rosa (1908–1967) and Pedro Moreira Barbosa (1907–2001) between 1934 and 1967, present at the Public Archives of Mineiro (APM), in Belo Horizonte. Through the reading and analysis of the 95 letters in the aforementioned archive, we sought to trace the most relevant points in Guimarães Rosa's biographical profile. From the letters emerges an imaginative, comical man, attentive to others, to travels, languages, a researcher interested in images, places and characters from the hinterland and Europe, as well as a diplomat concerned about not exposing himself. Our conclusions point to the need for a deeper hermeneutic and biographical study of the aforementioned correspondence.
