Resumo: Oncology represents a significant challenge for global public health. In the Portuguese-Speaking African Countries (PALOP), this reality is no different. Cancer not only has a devastating impact on patients but also on their families. The increasing number of cases is putting pressure on the healthcare systems of these nations, which are mostly overwhelmed by infectious diseases and other chronic illnesses. This paper addresses the dimension of oncological diseases in PALOP, analyzing the epidemiological profile, risk factors, challenges, and ongoing efforts in the fight against oncological diseases.

Dans les Pays Africains de Langue Portugaise (PALOP), cette réalité n’est pas différente. Le cancer a non seulement un impact dévastateur sur les patients, mais aussi sur leurs familles. Le nombre croissant de cas met une pression sur les systèmes de santé de ces nations, qui sont dans leur majorité, déjà submergés par les maladies infectieuses et d’autres maladies chroniques. Cet article aborde la dimension des maladies oncologiques dans les PALOP, en analysant leur profil épidémiologique, les facteurs de risque, les défis et les efforts en cours dans la lutte contre les maladies oncologiques.A Oncologia representa um desafio significativo para a Saúde Pública global.
