Literature as a way of reception: children in situations of refuge and children’s literature

Resumo: The present paper deals with the reception of refugee children in Brazil, through literature. This project aims to analyze how children's books – Um outro país para Azzi, by Sarah Garland (2012), O quintal de Aladim, by Andréa Avelar (2021), Um lençol de infinitos fios, by Susana Ventura (2019), A menina que abraça o vento, by Fernanda Paraguassu (2017), and Deixando para trás, by Ana Dantas (2017) – portray children in refugee situations. In turn, the objectives are to contextualize the refugee child; study the theory of integral protection; and analyze how children's literature portrays refugee children and becomes important instrument of reception. It consists of three specific objectives: contextualizing the refugee child; studying integral protection; and analyzing how children's literature portrays children in refugee situations. In this study, we used a deductive approach, the monographic procedure method, and documentary and bibliographic research techniques. The results demonstrate that literature is a valuable instrument for integrating refugee children locally in Brazil and ensuring their integral protection.

El objetivo general es analizar como los libros infantiles – Um outro país para Azzi, de Sarah Garland (2012), O quintal de Aladim, de Andréa Avelar (2021), Um lençol de infinitos fios, de Susana Ventura (2019), A menina que abraça o vento, de Fernanda Paraguassu (2017) y Deixando para trás, de Ana Dantas (2017) – retratan a niños en situación de refugio. Los objetivos específicos, a su vez, son: contextualizar el niño en la condición de refugiado; estudiar la teoría de la protección integral; y analizar cómo las obras literarias infantiles retratan el niño en situación de refugio, convirtiéndose en herramientas relevantes para el proceso de acogida. En la investigación, se utilizó el método de enfoque deductivo, el método del procedimiento monográfico y técnicas de investigación documental y bibliográfica. Los resultados indican que la literatura se presenta como un importante elemento de acogida de niños migrantes, demostrando ser un instrumento indispensable para la inserción local y la protección integral de niños en situación de refugio en Brasil.O presente trabalho trata do acolhimento da criança em situação de refúgio no Brasil, por meio da literatura. Os objetivos específicos, por sua vez, são: contextualizar a criança na condição de refugiada; estudar a teoria da proteção integral; e analisar como as obras literárias infantis retratam a criança em situação de refúgio, tornando-se ferramentas relevantes para o processo de acolhimento. Na pesquisa, utilizou-se o método de abordagem dedutivo, o método de procedimento monográfico e as técnicas de pesquisa documental e bibliográfica.
