Resumo: The analysis of lithic material traditionally adopts a technological perspective, focused on the production processes and the management of the lithic raw material. Although experimental archaeology and traceology sometimes demand som contact between the lithic material and the organic and perishable world, the character of the studies are often very “lithicentered”, sometimes making all the apprehensible knowledge about the perishable material related to it invisible. We propose here an exercise in looking at the lithic material, from an experimental and technological analysis perspective, with a focus on what has not been preserved, showing the potential for a more complete understanding of the archaeological reality. We thus demonstrate that the lithic material can be an important vector for seeing the otherwise invisible organic world.

Si bien la arqueología experimental y la traceología requieren en ocasiones el contacto entre el material lítico y el mundo orgánico y perecedero, el foco de los estudios es casi siempre muy “litocentrado”, muchas veces invisibilizando todo el conocimiento aprehensible sobre el material perecedero relacionado con él. Proponemos aquí un ejercicio de mirada al material lítico, desde una perspectiva de análisis experimental y tecnológico, con un enfoque en lo que no se ha conservado, mostrando el potencial para una aprehensión más completa de la realidad arqueológica. Demostramos así que el material lítico puede ser un vector importante para ver el mundo orgánico.As análises de material lítico tradicionalmente adotam uma perspectiva tecnológica, centrada nos processos de produção e de gestão da matéria-prima lítica. Ainda que a arqueologia experimental e a traceologia exijam por vezes o contato entre o material lítico e o mundo orgânico e perecível o foco dos estudos é quase sempre muito “litocentrado”, invisibilizando por vezes todo o conhecimento apreensível sobre o material perecível relacionado a essas abordagens. Propomos aqui um exercício de olhar para o material lítico, sob a perspectiva experimental e de análise tecnológica, com foco no que não se preservou, mostrando o potencial para uma apreensão mais completa da realidade arqueológica.
