Resumo: This document deals with an energy model of a combined cycle power plant based on the evaluation of its thermodynamic properties and with emphasis on an analysis from the point of view of Electrical Engineering, that is, without representing in detail its mechanical processes. A theoretical formulation of gas and steam cycles are performed, presenting a study case where not only the efficiency of each cycle is determined, but also the combination of both gas and steam cycles are analyzed. As a result, combined cycle power plant has a better performance than regular power plants. EES software is used to calculate the thermodynamic properties of thermal cycles, which has an extensive library with properties of several substances. Air as ideal gas and water are used in the present project to determine the overall cycle performance, where parametric analysis is carried out to obtain illustrative graphs and trends, which are the basis to take corrective actions to improve the performance of the combined cycle.

Se realiza la formulación teórica de los ciclos de gas y de vapor respectivamente, presentando un caso de estudio donde se determinan los rendimientos de cada ciclo por separado y del ciclo combinado, encontrándose que el tener una central térmica de ciclo combinado desde el punto de vista de aprovechamiento de recursos tiene un mejor rendimiento. Para calcular las propiedades termodinámicas de los ciclos se emplea el software EES, el cual dispone de una amplia librería con propiedades de varias sustancias, siendo el aire como gas ideal y el agua aquellas empleadas en el caso propuesto. Con el propósito de estudiar las características de rendimiento del ciclo, se lleva a cabo un análisis paramétrico, del cual se obtienen gráficas ilustrativas y de tendencias que evidencian las acciones que pueden llevarse a cabo para mejorar el rendimiento del ciclo combinado.Este documento divulga um modelo energético de uma usina termelétrica de ciclo combinado e que se baseia no cálculo de suas propriedades termodinâmicas e com ênfase em uma análise do ponto de vista da Engenharia Elétrica, ou seja, sem representar detalhadamente seus processos mecânicos. A formulação teórica dos ciclos a gás e a vapor é realizada, respectivamente, apresentando um estudo de caso onde os rendimentos de cada ciclo são determinados separadamente e do ciclo combinado, constatando que ter uma usina termelétrica de ciclo combinado do ponto de vista da utilização dos recursos tem melhor desempenho. Para calcular as propriedades termodinâmicas dos ciclos, é utilizado o software EES, que possui uma extensa biblioteca com propriedades de diversas substâncias, sendo o ar o gás ideal e a água os utilizados no caso proposto.
