The nursing professional and grief management in cancer patients in the terminal phase

Resumo: Introduction: The management of grief in nursing implies achieving a balance by carrying out an effective participation to help patients in the terminal phase. Objective: To determine the importance of the role of the nursing staff in the management of grief in cancer patients in the terminal phase. Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive, phenomenological research. The study participants were 10 nurses, for data collection a semi-structured interview was used after signing the informed consent. The information was collected through meetings that were recorded and transcribed for analysis. Results: The nurse has a fundamental role in the management of grief with interventions related to the management of symptoms in the final phase of life, communication, active listening and spiritual management. Likewise, it is reflected that the nursing staff does not adopt techniques to reduce the emotional bond with their patients. Conclusion: The nurse is in charge of ensuring well-being and comfort, allowing adequate communication to ensure trust between nurse and patient, facilitating overcoming problems. feelings of anguish and generate relief.

Metodología: Investigación cualitativa, descriptiva, fenomenológica. Los participantes de estudio fueron 10 enfermeras, para la recolección de datos se utilizó una entrevista semiestructurada previa firma del consentimiento informado. La información fue recolectada mediante reuniones que fueron grabadas y transcritas para su análisis. Resultados: El enfermero tiene un rol fundamental en el manejo del duelo con intervenciones vinculadas al manejo de la sintomatología en la fase final de la vida, comunicación, escucha activa y manejo espiritual. Asimismo, se refleja que el personal de enfermería no adopta técnicas para disminuir el vínculo emocional con sus pacientes. Conclusión: La enfermera es la encargada de asegurar el bienestar y confort, permitiendo brindar una comunicación adecuada que asegure la confianza entre enfermera y paciente, facilitando superar los sentimientos de angustia y generar alivio.Introdução: O manejo do luto na enfermagem implica alcançar o equilíbrio realizando uma participação efetiva para ajudar os pacientes em fase terminal. Objetivo: Determinar a importância do papel da equipe de enfermagem no manejo do luto em pacientes oncológicos em fase terminal. Metodologia: Pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, fenomenológica. Os participantes do estudo foram 10 enfermeiros, para coleta de dados foi utilizada entrevista semiestruturada após assinatura do termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido. As informações foram coletadas por meio de encontros que foram gravados e transcritos para análise. Resultados: O enfermeiro tem papel fundamental no manejo do luto com intervenções relacionadas ao manejo dos sintomas na fase final de vida, comunicação, escuta ativa e manejo espiritual. Da mesma forma, reflete-se que a equipe de enfermagem não adota técnicas para diminuir o vínculo afetivo com seus pacientes.
