Coping with covid-19 and its effects on the performance of the functions of security personnel

Resumo: Introduction: COVID-19 has generated diseases that have especially affected the respiratory system of mankind and even led to death, it has also generated mental imbalances, psychological disorders in security personnel, creating confusion, fears, due to changes in routines. Objective: To analyse COVID-19 coping and its effects on the performance of the functions of security personnel. Methodology: This research is quantitative, field-based, descriptive and cross-sectional. It was carried out by means of a census sample in which the population consisted of personnel working in the Tungurahua Police Sub-zone No. 18, with a Community Police Unit (UPC) of 50 active duty personnel designated for the study. Information was collected by means of a questionnaire, which contains 9 scales that have been validated with Cronbach's Alpha. Results: Compliance with preventive measures to avoid contagion of the coronavirus is shown. 92% use the mask when leaving home and 64% keep their distance from other people, and 44% have felt very anxious or afraid, very sad or depressed during the pandemic. Conclusions: The coping with COVID-19 in security personnel has improved significantly, allowing them to carry out their work functions in a normal way, therefore it is essential to continue promoting strategies in the servers to maintain a state of physical and mental health in good condition.

Objetivo: Analizar el afrontamiento de la COVID-19 y sus efectos en el desempeño de las funciones del personal de seguridad. Metodología: Esta investigación es de tipo cuantitativa, de campo, descriptiva y transversal. Se realizó mediante una muestra censal en donde la población estuvo conformada por el personal que labora en la Subzona de Policía de Tungurahua N° 18, siendo designado para el estudio una Unidad de Policía Comunitaria (UPC) con 50 personas en servicio activo. La recolección de información se realizó mediante un cuestionario, el cual contiene 9 escalas que han sido validadas con el Alfa de Cronbach. Resultados: Se muestra el cumplimiento de las medidas preventivas, para evitar el contagio del coronavirus. El 92% utiliza la mascarilla cuando sale de casa y un 64% mantiene el distanciamiento con otras personas, además de que el 44% ha sentido mucha ansiedad o miedo, muy tristes o deprimidos durante la pandemia. Conclusiones: El afrontamiento del COVID-19 en el personal de seguridad ha mejorado de manera significativa, permitiendo que puedan desarrollar sus funciones laborales de manera normal, por ello es indispensable seguir fomentando estrategias en los servidores para mantener un estado de salud físico y mental en buenas condiciones.Introdução: A COVID-19 tem gerado doenças que têm afetado especialmente o sistema respiratório da humanidade e até mesmo levado à morte, tem gerado também desequilíbrios mentais, distúrbios psicológicos no pessoal de segurança, criando confusão, medos, devido a mudanças nas rotinas. Objetivo: Analisar a cobertura da COVID-19 e seus efeitos sobre o desempenho das funções do pessoal de segurança. Metodologia: Esta pesquisa é quantitativa, baseada em campo, descritiva e transversal. Foi realizado por meio de uma amostra do censo em que a população era composta por pessoal que trabalhava na Subzona de Polícia de Tungurahua nº 18, com uma Unidade de Polícia Comunitária (UPC) de 50 funcionários no ativo designados para o estudo. As informações foram coletadas por meio de um questionário, que contém 9 escalas que foram validadas com o Alfa do Cronbach. Resultados: É demonstrado o cumprimento das medidas preventivas para evitar o contágio do coronavírus. 92% usam a máscara ao sair de casa e 64% mantêm distância de outras pessoas, e 44% se sentiram muito ansiosos ou temerosos, muito tristes ou deprimidos durante a pandemia.
