Emotional intelligence and aggressive behaviors in high school students: a case study

Resumo: The research aimed to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and the aggressive behaviours of students in 4th grade of secondary level in the educational institution Ángel Custodio García Ramírez, Tarapoto – 2020. The design of the investigation was basic of the non experimental – transversal type, and the sample was composed of 60 students from 4° “A” – “B” of secondary level. The instruments used were the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire and the Buss and Perry’s Aggressiveness Questionnaire. To find the correlation, Pearson’s parametric statistics were used, reaching a value of p>0.05, a negative concordance – weak intensity (rho= -,237), explaining that the higher the emotional intelligence, the students show less aggressive behaviours. Concluding, 68.3% can be found in a high range and 31.7% in a very high range, belonging to the first variable, as well as 71.7% can be found in a very high category and 1.7% in a very low category. Also, there is no significant relationship between the variables studied.

Also, there is no significant relationship between the variables studied.  La investigación tuvo como objetivo, determinar la relación de la inteligencia emocional y las conductas agresivas en estudiantes del 4° año en nivel secundaria de la Institución Educativa Ángel Custodio García Ramírez, Tarapoto – 2020, el diseño de la investigación fue básica de tipo no experimental – transversal, la muestra fue compuesta por 60 estudiantes del 4° “A y B” del nivel secundario, los instrumentos utilizado fueron el Cuestionario de Inteligencia Emocional y el Cuestionario de agresividad de Buss y Perry. Para encontrar la correlación se empleó el estadístico paramétrico Pearson, alcanzando un valor de p>0.05, una concordancia negativa – intensidad débil (rho= -,237, explicando que, a mayor inteligencia, los educandos obtienen menor conductas agresivas. Concluyendo, que el 68.3% se encuentra en un rango alto y el 31.7% rango muy alto, perteneciendo a la primera variable, también, 71.7% se encuentra en categoría muy alto, 1.7% muy bajo. También que no existe relación significativa entre las variables estudiadas.O objetivo da pesquisa foi determinar a relação entre inteligência emocional e comportamentos agressivos em alunos do 4º ano do ensino médio do Instituto de Ensino Ángel Custodio García Ramírez, Tarapoto - 2020, o desenho da pesquisa foi básico de tipo não experimental - transversal, a amostra foi composta por 60 alunos do 4º “A e B” do ensino médio, os instrumentos utilizados foram o Questionário de Inteligência Emocional e o Questionário de Agressão de Buss e Perry.
