Resumo: Conservation Units are important territories for the protection of biodiversity, provide several essential functions for life and human well-being. This research aims to analyze the tourist attractiveness of Integral Protection Conservation Units in the State Parks of Mato Grosso do Sul category. The methodology was based on the Index of Tourist Attractiveness of the Brazilian Conservation Units, adapted to the reality of Mato Grosso do Sul. The attractiveness index verified shows that regardless of the rich biodiversity (86.3%) and the diversity of landscapes (80.4%) existing in these Parks, alone are not characterized as a tourist attraction, given that tourism in these areas is still modest, influenced by different factors, including: disintegrated management (64.7%), insufficient staff (67.6%), lack of infrastructure (65.7%), lack of disclosure (68.6%), among other obstacles. A possible solution would be the provision of services through a concession. However, it is essential that the management body carries out the inspection and monitoring of services provided, to avoid the commercialization of State Parks and appropriation aimed solely at a public use that conflicts with the objectives of these Conservation Units.
