Resumo: Protected areas provide a wide range of ecosystem services to the human population and are an essential component of any global conservation strategy. In this context, ecotourism in Conservation Units (CU) represents a viable strategy for conserving biodiversity and providing environmental services. In view of the global crises faced by humanity, measuring and evaluating the economic impacts of these tools has become an important aspect in the evaluation of policies and decision-making processes for nature conservation, mainly in the context of urban areas. However, the documentation of these benefits faces limitations in terms of precision in estimates, being subject to errors and biases, mainly in the treatment of segment externalities and seasonality. Therefore, this work uses the Money Generation Model (MGM2) methodology – the model generates estimates of the economic impacts of visitors to protected areas –, to analyze the economic impact generated by ecotourism in the Ceará´s Botanical State Park, located in the State of Ceará, Brazil. The expected results aim to understand the multiplier effects of the activity expressed in job creation, sales, remuneration, salaries; express concepts of the MGM2 methodology, with modifications, to address specific issues of the protected area; and, inform public policy makers.
