Resumo: This work aims to analyze and recognize the Federal University of Tocantins’ area, Arraias campus, as a hotspot for birdwatching in urban areas and to indicate the importance of avifauna for Environmental Education and the practice of Ecotourism. To determine the hotspot for birdwatching, the indicators proposed in the literature were considered. For the records of bird species, fixed point and linear transect methods were used. In the Campus area and its immediate surroundings, 129 species of birds were recorded, involving resident, migratory and endemic species of the Cerrado.

Para a determinação do hotspot para observação de aves foram considerados os indicadores propostos na literatura. Para os registros das espécies de aves foram utilizados métodos de ponto fixo e transecto linear.
