justice to come: for a Mathematics Education to postpone the End of the World

Resumo: Taking as a starting point the life philosophy of “Buen Vivir”, from the peoples of the Andes, this article aims to present several reflections resulting from research that seek epistemic and social justice by tensioning discourses and curricular practices that promote a single image of Mathematics, which invisibilizes and subalternizes knowledge and bodies. For this purpose, we present a dialogic scene with two characters, who speak from affections that go across us, but are not entirely us; they do not speak from individual voices but based on different works developed in a collective and dialogic way among the members of two Brazilian mathematics education research groups. In the debate raised about Mathematics, its universality and its bonds with modernity/coloniality, we demand a Mathematics Education to postpone the end of the world – or else, a Mathematics Education to anticipate the end of this world, of this abstraction of humanity, a Mathematics Education that stands against the proclaimed “back to normal”, a Mathematics Education to produce other worlds, to tell other stories of these worlds.

Tomando como punto de partida la filosofía de vida del “Buen Vivir” de los pueblos de los Andes, este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar varias reflexiones resultantes de investigaciones que buscan la justicia epistémica y social a través de la problematización de discursos y prácticas curriculares que promueven una imagen única de Matemática que invisibiliza y subalterniza saberes y cuerpos. Para ello, presentamos una escena dialógica con dos personajes, que hablan de afectos que nos atraviesan, pero no son del todo nosotros; no hablan desde voces individuales, sino a partir de diferentes trabajos desarrollados de manera colectiva y dialógica entre los integrantes de dos grupos de investigación brasileros del campo de la Educación Matemática. En el debate suscitado sobre la Matemáticas, su universalidad y sus vínculos con la modernidad/colonialidad, reivindica una Educación Matemática para postergar el fin del mundo - o bien, una Educación Matemática para adelantar el fin de este mundo, de esta abstracción de la humanidad, una Educación Matemática que se oponga al proclamado “retorno a normalidad”, una Educación Matemática para producir otros mundos, para contar otras historias de estos mundos. Assumindo como lugar de partida a filosofia de vida do “Buen Vivir” dos povos dos Andes, este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar diversas reflexões produto de pesquisas que procuram por justiça epistêmica e social ao tensionar discursos e práticas curriculares que promovem uma imagem única de Matemática que invisibiliza e subalterniza saberes e corpos. Para isto, apresentamos uma cena dialógica com duas personagens, que falam a partir de afetos que nos atravessam, mas não são inteiramente nós; não falam a partir de vozes individuais, mas sim com base em diferentes trabalhos desenvolvidos de forma coletiva e dialógica entre os integrantes de dois grupos de pesquisa de Educação Matemática brasileiros.
