Initial teacher education: providing meaningful connections through internship projects

One of the ways of providing an initial training in which theory and practice are integrated is to guarantee the performance of a supervised internship, in which there is a real partnership between the Higher Education Institution and the Basic Education School. Thus, recognizing the importance of the internship, it can be be questioned which other activities carried out by the undergraduate students during the course can enhance the reflections generated during its completion. In this exploratory study, carried out throughout 2018 with 77 students enrolled in the Internship Projects discipline of the Mathematics Degree course at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo, it was investigated that other activities developed previously in the course influenced this group in the accomplishment of the tasks proposed in the discipline. It was identified that the most significant activities are those that involve the pedagogical knowledge of the content, knowledge that has gained space in recent discussions on initial and continuing education.
