The National Didactic Book Program (PNLD) and critical Mathematical Education: an analysis of the function concepts and polynomial functions of the 1st and 2nd degrees in the most adopted teaching book in PNLD 2015

Resumo: The present text is a cut of the master dissertation of one of the authors and aims to: 1) verify if the requirements present in the 2013 Edict of the National Textbook Program contemplate ideas of the theoretical trend Critical Mathematics Education; 2) present the results of the analysis done with the book of the 1st year of Higher Education sold in the last PNLD. The analysis aimed to investigate whether the approach of the subjects related to the concepts of Function and Polynomial Functions of the first and second grades, during the first year, of High School, somehow, contemplate the theoretical trend Critical Mathematics Education. Methodologically, this is a qualitative research. Theoretically, it will rely mainly on Critical Mathematics Education (EMC), however, researches and studies related to the Mathematics textbook will also support the study. The analysis of the 2013 PNLD Announcement indicated that there are elements associated with the ideas defended by the EMC legitimating, to a certain extent, our study with the textbooks of Mathematics. The analysis of the concepts of Polynomial Functions and Polynomial Functions of the 1st and 2nd grades of the book of the 1st year of High School, of the collection most adopted by the participating schools of PNLD 2015 presented unsatisfactorily proposals that contribute to the development of Critical Mathematical Education.

El análisis realizado pretendió investigar si el abordaje de los asuntos relacionados con los conceptos de Función y de las Funciones Polinomiales del primer y del segundo grado, a lo largo del primer año, de la Enseñanza Media, de alguna manera, contemplan la tendencia teórica Educación Matemática Critica. Metodológicamente, se trata de una investigación cualitativa. Teóricamente, se apoyará, principalmente, en la Educación Matemática Critica (EMC), sin embargo, investigaciones y estudios relacionados al libro didáctico de Matemáticas también auxiliarán el estudio. El análisis del Edicto de 2013 del PNLD indicó que hay elementos asociados a las ideas defendidas por la EMC legitimando, de cierta manera, nuestro estudio con los libros didácticos de Matemáticas. El análisis de los conceptos de Función y de Funciones Polinomiales del 1º y 2º grados, del libro del 1º año de la Enseñanza Media, de la colección más adoptada por las escuelas participantes del PNLD 2015, presentó insatisfactoriamente propuestas que contribuyan al desarrollo de la Educación Matemática Critica.O presente texto é um recorte da dissertação de mestrado de um dos autores e tem como objetivos: 1) verificar se as exigências presentes no Edital 2013 do Programa Nacional do Livro Didático contemplam ideias da tendência teórica Educação Matemática Crítica; 2) apresentar os resultados da análise feita com o livro do 1º ano do Ensino Médio mais vendido no último PNLD. A análise realizada pretendeu investigar se a abordagem dos assuntos relacionados aos conceitos de Função e das Funções Polinomiais do primeiro e do segundo graus, ao longo do primeiro ano, do Ensino Médio, de alguma maneira, contemplam a tendência teórica Educação Matemática Crítica.
