Education in racial-ethnic relations based on the history of scientific racism: design principles design and educative curriculum materials

Resumo: This paper presents results of a collaborative research on the development of proposals in education for ethnic-racial relations focusing on the history of scientific racism. Taking educational design-based research as a methodological approach, five educational curriculum materials were produced based on historical episodes: objectification of Sarah Baartman's body by 19th century naturalists; racialisation of sickle cell disease; biomedical use of Henrietta Lacks' cells; Manuel Querino's stand against scientific racism at the Bahia Medical School; use of genomic research data in debates about racial quotas for admission to Brazilian universities. We validate design principles that oriented the elaboration of the mentioned educative curriculum materials

Tomando la investigación basada en el diseño educativo como enfoque metodológico, se produjeron cinco materiales curriculares educativos basados en episodios históricos: objetivación del cuerpo de Sarah Baartman por naturalistas del siglo XIX; racialización de la enfermedad de células falciformes; uso biomédico de las células de Henrietta Lacks; posicionamiento de Manuel Querino contra el racismo científico en la Facultad de Medicina de Bahía; uso de datos de investigación genómica en debates sobre cuotas raciales de admisión en universidades brasileñas. Validamos algunos principios de planificación que orientaron la elaboración de los materiales curriculares educativos mencionados.São apresentados resultados de uma pesquisa colaborativa de desenvolvimento de propostas de educação das relações étnico-raciais centradas na história do racismo científico. A partir da abordagem da pesquisa em design educacional, foram produzidos cinco materiais curriculares educativos baseados nos episódios históricos:  objetificação do corpo de Sarah Baartman por naturalistas no século XIX; racialização das doenças falciformes; uso biomédicos das células de câncer do colo de útero de Henrietta Lacks;  embate de Manuel Querino ao racismo científico na Faculdade de Medicina na Bahia; uso de dados das pesquisas em genômica nos debates sobre cotas raciais para ingresso nas universidades brasileiras.
