Evaluation of Learning Objects about Biological Evolution from the Cognitive Load Theory

Resumo: | Biological Evolution is an integrating axis of biological knowledge produced by other fields of Biology; however, research points to the difficulty of teaching and a deficit in learning this subject. The Cognitive Load Theory (CBT) can guide both the development of better teaching resources, which effectively contribute to the teaching-learning process, and the construction of instruments to pedagogically evaluate such resources. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the pedagogical potential of learning objects (LOs) related to Biological Evolution from some effects of CBT. The 14 OAs related to EB were taken from the International Bank for Educational Objects (BIOE) and evaluated based on the effects of divided attention, modality, redundancy and isolated elements. |

La Evolución Biológica (EB) es un eje integrador del conocimiento biológico producido por otros campos de la Biología; sin embargo, las investigaciones apuntan a la dificultad de enseñar y un déficit en el aprendizaje. La Teoría de la Carga Cognitiva (TCC) puede orientar tanto el desarrollo de mejores recursos didácticos, que contribuyan efectivamente al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, como la construcción de instrumentos para evaluar pedagógicamente dichos recursos. Así, el objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el potencial pedagógico de los Objetos de Aprendizaje (OA) relacionados con la EB a partir de algunos efectos de la TCC. Los 14 AA relacionados con la EB fueron tomados del Banco Internacional de Objetos Educativos (BIOE) y evaluados con base en los efectos de atención dividida, modalidad, redundancia y elementos aislados. A Evolução Biológica (EB) constitui um eixo integrador dos conhecimentos biológicos produzidos pelos demais campos da Biologia; contudo, pesquisas apontam para a dificuldade do seu ensino e um déficit na sua aprendizagem. A Teoria da Carga Cognitiva (TCC) pode orientar tanto a elaboração de melhores recursos didáticos, que efetivamente contribuam para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem, quanto a construção de instrumentos para avaliar pedagogicamente tais recursos. Desse modo, o objetivo dessa pesquisa foi avaliar o potencial pedagógico de Objetos de Aprendizagem (OA) relacionados à EB a partir de alguns efeitos da TCC. Os 14 OAs relacionados à EB foram retirados do Banco Internacional de Objetos Educacionais (BIOE) e avaliados a partir dos efeitos da atenção dividida, modalidade, redundância e elementos isolados.
