Resumo: ABSTRACT. Santos A.S., Carlos R.S.A., Said R.A. & Albuquerque G.R. [Epidemiologic aspects of infestation of Lynxacarus radovskyi in cats from municipality of Ilhéus and Itabuna, Bahia]. E-mail: gralbu@uesc.br The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiological aspects of Lynxacarus radovskyi infections in the domestic cats from Ilhéus and Itabuna cities, Bahia, Brazil. Samples of hair of 224 cats were collected and examined under the microscope to identify these ectoparasites, with 79 (35.27%) positive for L. radovski. There was a significant association between a lynxacariose infections and the skin lesions (p = 0.01), the length of hair (p = 0.01), the Persian breed (p = 0018), the shower and hair cut access (p = 0,018) and the contact with other cats (p = 0.04). Beside this 9,37% (21/224) were also positive to Felicola subrostratus, and eight cats (3,57%) were positive for both parasites. This indicates that there is both parasites in cat population at the municipality of Ihéus and Itabuna. There was a statistical significance of the association between F. subrostratus and the hair color (p = 0.02) and the contact with other cats (p = 0.01).

Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.2011-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionpeer reviewedAvaliado pelos paresapplication/pdfhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/article/view/786Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine; Vol. 33 No. 2 (2011); 115-119Revista Brasileira de Medicina Veterinária; v. 33 n. 2 (2011); 115-1192527-21790100-2430reponame:Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicineinstname:Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (SOMVERJ)instacron:SBMVporhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/article/view/786/642Santos, Alexandra SilvaCarlos, Renata Santiago AlbertoSaid, Roueda AbouAlbuquerque, George Rêgoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-12-23T17:28:11Zoai:ojs.rbmv.org:article/786Revistahttps://rbmv.org/BJVMONGhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/oaicontato.rbmv@gmail.com2527-21790100-2430opendoar:2020-12-23T17:28:11Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine - Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (SOMVERJ)false
