E-mail: clarissaps@globo.com The goal of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of the association of the pirethroid d-fenothrin and the IGR pyriproxyfen on the control of Lynxacarus radovskyi in cats. Fourteen naturally infested cats were evaluated. Seven were the control group and the other seven were treated with a spray formulation containing d-fenothrin and pyriproxyfen at 4.40 and 0.14%, respectively, at the rate of 4 pumps/kg of body weight. The animals were examined for the presence of mites five days after treatment and all cats in control group presented live L. radovskyi. Dead mites were found on every treated animal, but two also presented live mites, considered positives. These cats had long hair and higher degree of infestation, making difficult the contact of the mites with the product. The association of d-fenothrin and pyriproxyfen on a spray formulation may be a good therapeutic option for the treatment of lynxacariosis in cats.

The association of d-fenothrin and pyriproxyfen on a spray formulation may be a good therapeutic option for the treatment of lynxacariosis in cats.O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a eficácia da associação do piretróide d-fenotrina com o inibidor de crescimento de insetos piriproxifen no controle de Lynxacarus radovskyi em gatos.
